SPENT GIRLHOOD DAYS IN AKRON

Mrs. C. S. McKibben Dies at DeSmet, S. D. –Burial in Cemetery Here

Profound sorrow was brought to relatives and friends in Akron vicinity by the death of Mrs. Clifford S. McKibben at her home in DeSmet, S. D. last Friday, February 20, 1931, after only a few days illness of bronchial—pneumonia, aged 44 years and 8 months.

Ethel Searls was born in Akron, Ia., in July, 1884 [**see note below), the eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Searls. She attended the local schools and grew to young womanhood here. About twenty years ago she was united in marriage here with Clifford S. McKibben, and soon afterward they located in DeSmet, S. D., which has since remained their home. Besides her husband and one son,

Mrs. McKibben is survived by her mother, Mrs. E. J. Searls, now in California; two brothers, B. O. and Dwight Searls, of Sioux City, Ia., and two sisters Mrs. Jessie Goodwin, of Columbus, Oh. and Mrs. Nelle Marsh, of Minneapolis, Minn. Her kind and friendly disposition, her helpful and sympathetic nature endeared Mrs. McKibben to all who made her acquaintance, and a host of friends extend condolence to the husband and sixteen-year-old son and the other relatives in their loss and deep bereavement.

The remains were brought here Monday afternoon, accompanied by Mr. McKibben and son and a number of friends from DeSmet; Mr. and Mrs. B. W. Searls and Mr. and Mrs. Dwioght Searls, of Sioux City, and Mrs. E. V. March, of Minneapolis, Minn. A good-sized assemblage of relatives and friends attended the burial service at Riverside cemetery, which was conducted by Rev. U. G. Miller, pastor of the Akron Baptist church.

The pallbearers were old-time friends of the deceased, O C. Moore, E. M. Greenleaf, H. G. Clark, T. L. Burnight, B. A Adams and V. G. Adams.
