WASHINGTON - Lucille Margaret Young, 88, of Washington, Ill., died at 1 a.m. Monday, Aug. 20, 2012, at ManorCare at Riverview in East Peoria, Ill.

Born on May 4, 1924, in Akron, Iowa, to Theodore and Henrietta Peters Lorensen, she married William P. Young on July 4, 1953, in Peoria, Ill. He died on July 22, 1989, in Peoria, Ill.

Surviving are her sister-in-law, Elaine Lorensen of Akron, Iowa; five nephews, Dennis (Beverly) Lorensen of Lead, S.D., Larry (Judy) Lorensen of Le Mars, Iowa, Rick (Chris) Lorensen of Thibodaux, La., Gary (Tina) Lorensen of Westfield, Iowa, and Jeff (Julie) Lorensen of Sioux Falls, S.D.; and a stepdaughter, Paula Meeks of Peoria Heights, Ill. Also surviving are six great-nieces and -nephews, several cousins, 10 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and a special couple, Vermeda and Duane Freiberger.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her stepfather, Orria Sparks; two brothers, Leslie Lorensen and Orville Lorensen; two nephews; a great-niece; and a stepson, William V. Young.

She moved from Iowa to East Peoria, Ill., and was employed by Caterpillar Tractor Co. as a machine operator for 35 years, retiring in 1977.

She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Washington and the Caterpillar Retirees.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2012, at Faith Lutheran Church in Washington, Ill. Pastor John Rothfusz will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the church. A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 24, 2012, at Riverside Cemetery in Akron, Iowa.
