Mrs. William Kiewel

Mrs. William Kiewel, 87, of Akron, , died Wednesday (June 11, 1986) in the Akron nursing home after a brief illness.

Services were held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in Immanuel Lutheran church in Akron. The Rev. Benard Nelson officiated. Burial was in the Riverside cemetery under the direction of Schroeder funeral home in Akron. Visitation was held from 2-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers were Doug Kiewel, Larry Kiewel, Lawrence Kiewel, David Kiewel, Steven Kiewel and Jeff Krambeck. Doug Olson, soloist sang "Amazing Grace", and "How Great Thou Art", accompanied by organist Phyllis Frisk.

Mrs. Kiewel, the former Alma Ruth Day, was born August 19, 1898, in Granite Falls, Minn., to Mr. and Mrs. Ephraim Day. She married William E. Kiewel February 25, 1914, at Granite Falls. They farmed in Wyoming, Minnesota, South Dakota, Montana and Iowa before retiring to Akron in 1955. They enjoyed winters in Arizona in later years. He died in February 1973. - Mrs. Kiewel was a member of Immanuel Lutheran church, LCW, American Legion Auxiliary, and Senior Citizens Group of Akron. She was a Gold Star Mother.

Survivors include three sons, Edward of Akron, Lawrence of Alcester, S.D., and Robert of Belle Plaine, Minn.; two daughters, Mrs. LeRoy (Kathryn) Krambeck of Sioux Falls, S.D., and Mrs. Ray (Betty) White of Tigard, Ore.; 41 grandchildren and 90 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three sons, Roy, Douglas, and James, one daughter, Lajla Twedt, three brothers and two sisters.
