Harold A. "Shorty" Klave

Harold A. "Shorty" Klave, 65, 310 Isabella St., Sioux City, died Saturday (June 24, 1989) in a Sioux City hospital after a seven month bout with cancer.

Services were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Immanuel Lutheran church in Sioux City. Rev. Ernest Caltvedt officiated. Burial was in Riverside cemetery in Akron, under direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, Sioux City.

Honorary pallbearers were Gary Petz, Tracy Klave, Kenneth Hanson, Harold Higgenbotham, James Higgenbotham, and Arnold Rasmussen. Pallbearers were Brad Blair, Brad Peterson, Scott Lewis, Barry Klave, Caleb Grimes and Doug Twedt.

Mr. Klave Was born Nov. 25, 1923 to Rudolph and Anna (Steinfadt) Klave in rural Sioux county. He attended the Pleasant View school #9 in rural Plymouth county. He farmed with his father near Akron until 1953, then moved to Sioux City. For over 25 years he was a mechanic for Montgomery Ward's auto department, and later with Bernie's Body Shop. Most recently he was employed with Shopko's maintenance department. He married the former Martha N. (Allen) DeWolf May 20, 1983 in Akron. Mr. Klave was a member of Immanuel Lutheran church in Sioux City.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Gary (Sheila) Petz of Homer, Neb.; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Harold (Constance) Higginbotham of Kingsley; a brother, Harlan R. of Mason City, Iowa; one granddaughter; four step-grandsons,; two nieces and one nephew.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Rudy and Anna Klave.
