John Marple, a pioneer resident of Union County, S. D., who lived five miles west of Akron for many years, died Monday, September 21, 1908, at the state insane hospital, Cherokee, Iowa, where he had been receiving treatment since last April.

He went from here to Canada several years ago. Before going to the hospital, he was with relatives near Hawarden. His son J.R., resides here at present. Many old friends regret to learn of his sad demise and sympathize with the surviving relatives.

Funeral services will be held here in the M. E. church this Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock Interment in Riverside cemetery.
