MARTHA WATSON, 79, LIFE LONG COUNTY RESIDENT, EXPIRES

Mrs. Martha Watson, 79, died Monday, Aug. 31, at Sacred Heart Hospital after a two month illness.

Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 2, at the First Presbyterian Church. Interment was in the city cemetery under the direction of Mauer’s funeral home.

Martha Stokes was born Mar. 5, 1874, in Stanton township, Plymouth County. She married James A. Watson Feb. 22, 1898, at the home of her parents. The couple lived in Stanton township until 1914, and farmed north of LeMars until 1929, when they retired to LeMars.

Mrs. Watson was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and the Presbyterian Church.

She is survived by a daughter and three sons. They are Miss Gladys Watson of LeMars, Alex of Waterloo, John of LeMars, and Kermit, of Omaha.

Also surviving are four grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. Chris Mikkelson of Bozeman, Mont., and Mrs. Albert Werth of Denver, Colo.

Preceding her in death were her parents, husband James and two children.
