ASMUSSEN, MOLLER, SCHORG

William “Bill” Asmussen, 92, of Los Angeles, Calif. and a Remsen native, died Wednesday, Oct. 27, 1993 in a hospital at Englewood, Calif.
He entered the hospital Oct. 23. He had been a resident of a nursing home in California since March.
Funeral services were at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 30 at the Moeller Funeral Home in Remsen with Rev. Craig Miller officiating. Burial was in the Remsen City Cemetery.
Mr. Asmussen was born Aug. 31, 1901 at Remsen, the son of John and Agnes (Moller) Asmussen. He lived on a farm in the Remsen area. He moved to Le Mars in 1930 where he owned and operated a Phillips 66 station for many years.
He married Madeline Schorg in 1934 at Elk Point, S.D. They moved to California in 1952 where he worked for Northrup Aircraft Corporation until his retirement in 1969.
He was a member of the Nation Guard and the Eagles Club.
Surviving are his wife Madeline of Los Angeles; two sons, Gary of Berrington, Ill. and Richard of Los Angeles; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Lilly Asmussen and Dorothy Asmussen; three brothers, Oscar, Emil and Bernhardt, who died in infancy. – Remsen Bell-Enterprise, Nov. 4, 1993.
