Cleghorn, Iowa - Dale P. Taylor, 95, of Cleghorn, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, October 20, 2010, at his residence in Cleghorn.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 25, 2010, at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Remsen, Iowa, with the Rev. Craig Miller officiating. Interment will be in the Remsen Community Cemetery with Masonic rites provided by the Speculative Lodge #307 A.F.& A.M. of Cherokee. A gathering of relatives and friends will be held at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Remsen, one hour prior to Dale’s service on Monday. Those wishing to extend memorials may wish to direct them to the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Remsen, Iowa.
Dale Phipps Taylor was born August 22, 1915, in Conde, South Dakota, the son of Sylvia Jane (Phipps) and Clyde Sylvester Taylor. He graduated from Conde High School in 1933. On January 16, 1945, Dale was united in marriage to Marion Ruth Tonsfeldt in Glendale, California. They were later blessed with their only child, Douglas. Dale was employed for 12 years at Lockeed Aircraft in Santa Monica, CA. He and Marion moved to Remsen in 1948, where he was engaged in farming until his retirement in August of 1974. Dale enjoyed restoring antiques and old cars in his leisure time and traveling the United States and Canada. He looked forward to Doug’s vacation visits. Dale was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Remsen, and a 50-year member of the Speculative Lodge #307 of Cherokee.
Those left to cherish Dale’s memory are his wife, Marion Taylor of the Heartland Care Center in Marcus; IA; his son, Douglas and Linda Taylor of Huntington Beach CA; his two granddaughters, Anne Marie and Laura Taylor of Huntington Beach, CA; his sister, Maxine Biersbach of Bristol, South Dakota; and other relatives and friends. Preceding Dale in death are his parents, Clyde and Sylvia Taylor; one sister, and five brothers. – family news clipping
