Obituary. George P. Raveling.
George P. Raveling, 78, longtime Remsen resident, died Thursday at the Julius nursing home, Sioux City.
He had lived in Sioux City for 15 years and prior to that in the Remsen vicinity.
He was born May 6, 1889, at Remsen and would have celebrated his 80th birthday Tuesday. He had been in failing health for two months and was a retired farmer.
His parents were the late Peter and Clara Vryse Raveling. He was married to Erma Strohbeen Jan. 1, 1912. She died in 1935.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at St. Paul Evangelical church, Remsen, with Rev. Paul Wuebben officiating. Burial will be in the Remsen city cemetery under direction of the Moeller funeral home.
Friends may call at the funeral home Saturday afternoon and evening.
Survivors are a son, Orville, Sioux City; a grandson, Danny, now serving in Vietnam; three sisters, Mary Wulf, Bronson; Hilka Reiners, Ocheyedan, and Clara Schmidt, Remsen.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two brothers and a sister. – Le Mars Daily Sentinel, May 2, 1969, page 7.
