George Moritz Rites Tuesday Afternoon.
Funeral services for George D. Moritz, Le Mars, will be held in Remsen and Le Mars Tuesday, September 7. Mr. Moritz was found dead in his room in the Joe Luken home in Le Mars Saturday afternoon. It was thought that he passed away during the night Friday of a heart attack.
The services in Remsen will be at 1:30 at the Moeller Funeral Home and in Le Mars at 2 p.m. in St. John’s American Lutheran church.
Mr. Moritz was born on a farm north of Remsen October 28, 1891. On September 26, 1923, he was married to Dorothy Krebs and they moved to Scranton, N.D. where he managed a telephone exchange.
In 1944 they returned to Iowa and made their home in Le Mars. Mrs. Moritz died September, 1946. Mr. Moritz was a veteran of World War I. He served in the signal corps. He was a member of the Le Mars American Legion post at the time of his death.
Surviving are five sisters, Mrs. Charles Larsen of Remsen; Mrs. Philip Raveling, Lismore, Minn.; Mrs. Tina Spiecker, Manhattan, Kansas, Mrs. George Meyer, Le Mars; and Mrs. Anton Uflsen, Marshall, Minn., and two brothers, John Moritz, Calumet, and Dave Moritz, Sioux City.
Pallbearers are Albert Null, Robert Dempster, William Asmussen, Clarence Milfs, of Le Mars and Alt Johnson and Clarence Harnack, Remsen. – Le Mars Semi-Weekly Sentinel, Sept 7, 1948, page 1.
