REMSEN. From the Bell Enterprise. The home of Herman Klingbeil was sadly afflicted this week when on Monday afternoon at two o’clock in the German Lutheran hospital at Sioux City, Mrs. Klingbeil passed to her heavenly reward after a week of intense suffering through an operation. At the time of her death she was fifty-one years of age. Her maiden name was Anna Dorothea Neubauer, the daughter of Anna and Christ Neubauer, and she was born on April 4, 1863, at Siche, a small village near Koestrin, province Badenburg, Germany. When she was nineteen years of age she accompanied the entire family to the United States. They spent a few months in Wisconsin, then came to Iowa, settling at Ida Grove, Ida county. It was during the family’s residence there that on September 25, 1884, Anna Neubauer was married to Herman Klingbeil, a farmer in that vicinity. Mr. and Mrs. Klingbeil moved to Holstein, Iowa, after their marriage, remaining there but a short time and coming to Plymouth county in 1887. The settled on a farm in Henry township, where they labored diligently until 1909 when they retired, coming to Remsen to spend the rest of their days. To their union seven children were born and besides the grieving husband the excellent family of six who still live to mourn the loss of their mother are: Mrs. Ella Krekow, of Marcus; Mrs. Louisa Bierman, of Pierson; Mrs. Martha Lang, Mary, Fred and William of Remsen. Mrs. Klingbeil was a devout member of Christ Lutheran church during all her years and her entire life was lived in accordance with her religious belief. The funeral was held this afternoon. At one o’clock services were conducted by Rev. Guenther at the Klingbeil home, after which the pastor officiated in the burial ceremonies at Christ church. – Le Mars Semi-Weekly Sentinel, May 5, 1914, page 2.
