Obituary. Mrs. Emma Kroeger.
Mrs. Emma Kroeger, 87, lifetime Plymouth county resident, whose home was in Remsen, died Monday (Oct. 4, 1976) at Brentwood Good Samaritan center in Le Mars where she had resided since Last Easter.
Emma Matilda Peters was born May 16, 1889, in Fredonia township to Henry Jacob and Elfreda Oldehoff Peters. She was baptized with a brother and a sister June 21, 1891 at the Evangelical Lutheran church in Remsen.
In 1895 the family moved to Remsen township and later to Germantown.
She was married to Otto Kroeger, Sept 2, 1914 at St. John’s church in Germantown.
They established their home on the Kroeger home place in Henry township and retired to Remsen in March 1947.
The couple observed their golden wedding anniversary Sept. 2, 1964, and enjoyed 54 years of married life prior to his death Nov. 4, 1968.
Mrs. Kroeger was a faithful member of Christ Lutheran church in Remsen for many years.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at Christ Lutheran, Remsen, with Rev. Allan Brutlag officiating. Burial will be in the Remsen cemetery under direction of the Moeller funeral home in Remsen.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. Wednesday.
Survivors are a son Elmer of Remsen, a daughter, Mrs. Charles (Lois) Krekow, Marcus; four grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. August Ohlendorf, Remsen and Mrs. Bruard (Freda) Straub of Paullina.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Bill and George and by a sister Dora. – Le Mars Daily Sentinel, Oct. 6, 1976, page 4.
