REMSEN – Anna Catherine Kappler, 88, of the Cherokee Villa Nursing Home and formerly of Remsen, died Sunday, Aug. 1, 1993, at Sioux Valley Memorial Hospital at Cherokee.
Miss Kappler was born Feb. 19, 1905, in the Marcus area, the daughter of Jacob and Mary (Seel) Kappler. She was baptized in the Trinity Lutheran Church at Marcus and was confirmed at Christ Lutheran Church at Remsen. She attended rural schools. She made her home with her parents for many years and later lived with her brother and sister.
Miss Kappler was a member of Christ Lutheran Church.
Survivors include a sister, Esther Schut and her husband, Ray, of Elkton, S.D.; a brother, George Kappler of Cherokee; a niece, Ethel Schut of Sioux Falls, S.D.; two nephews, Wayne and Curtis Kappler of Remsen; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Louis (LaVon) Kappler of Cherokee; a grandniece and three grandnephews.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Marie Kappler, and a brother, Louis Kappler.
Services will be a 2 p.m. Tuesday at Christ Lutheran Church, Remsen, with Rev. James Dale Wilson officiating. Burial will be in the Remsen City Cemetery. Visitation is after 3 p.m. today (Monday) with the family present from 7 to 9 p.m. and a prayer service at 8 p.m. at the Moeller Funeral Home, Remsen. - Le Mars Daily Sentinel, Aug. 2, 1993, page 2.
