Louis Fred Kappler, 74, Remsen native and lifelong resident, died April 21, 1982, at Floyd Valley hospital in Le Mars after a brief illness.
He had been taken to Rochester and back by plane recently.
Service will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at First Lutheran church in Kingsley with Rev. Walter Resner officiating. Burial will be in the Remsen city cemetery under direction of the Moeller funeral home in Remsen. Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. Friday.
Mr. Kappler was born in Remsen township Nov. 23, 1907, to Jacob John and Mary Seel Kappler. He was a retired farmer.
His marriage to LaVon Peters took place Nov. 29, 1934, at Christ Lutheran church, Remsen.
Surviving are his wife, LaVon, Remsen; two sons, Wayne and Curtis, both of Remsen; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; a brother, George of Remsen; three sisters, Anna Kappler and Marie Kappler, both of Remsen and Mrs. Ray (Esther) Schut, Elkton, S.D. – Le Mars Daily Sentinel, April 22, 1982, page 10.
