Area Deaths. MRS. ANNA JOHNSON BURIED AT REMSEN.
Mrs. Anna Elsie Johnson, 89, of Marcus died Saturday, June 20, at Sacred Heart hospital where she had been a patient for a month.
Mrs. Johnson was born Jan. 5, 1875, in Austfriesland, Germany, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Juetting. She came to this country at the age of 14 and lived in Illinois.
She was united in marriage to John A. Johnson in Illinois and the couple resided in the Remsen area for many years before moving to Paullina where they lived for 25 years. Mr. Johnson died in 1959 and Mrs. Johnson moved to Marcus three years ago.
She is survived by four sons, George of Lamberton, Minn., Harmon of Council Bluffs, Johannes

three daughters, Katherine Dunn and Elsie Melvedt of Omaha, and Mrs. William Wilcox of Marcus; a sister, Mrs. Dena Gerwin of Rush Hill, Mo.; 20 grandchildren and 47 great-grandchildren also survive.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by three sons, Bernard, Alt and Theodore.
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Remsen with the Rev. Paul Wuebben officiating. Burial was in the Remsen cemetery. – Le Mars Daily Sentinel, June 26, 1964, page 5.
