John Holler. Funeral services for John Holler, 74, retired Remsen, Ia., farmer who died at Sacred Heart hospital at Le Mars Tuesday after a short sickness will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Christ Lutheran church at Remsen. Rev. Alfred Christiansen will officiate and burial will be in the Remsen cemetery under direction of the Fisch Funeral home. A Wake will be held Thursday afternoon and evening at the funeral home.
Mr. Holler was born February 25, 1881 in Germany. He came to this country at the age of 16. He married Anna Mehlhop, February 19, 1907 at Remsen and farmed near Remsen until he retired and moved to town in 1946.
Surviving are his wife, a son Henry of Remsen; three daughters, Mrs. Ray Geringer of Marcus, Ia., Mrs. Everett Groenhagen of Kingsley and Mrs. William Sievers, Jr. of Remsen; one brother, one sister, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. – Le Mars Globe Post, Sept 22, 1955, page 35.
