Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Holtgrewe, 71, who died Friday, were held at 1:30 p.m. today at the Moeller funeral home in Remsen, and at 2 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran church. Burial was in the Remsen cemetery.
Mrs. Holtgrewe died at the Sacred Heart hospital in Le Mars Friday night. She had been a resident of Remsen for 50 years.
She was born August 17, 1883, at Stockton, Iowa. Her husband, Edwin, died in 1951. Mrs. Holtgrewe was prominent in the American Legion auxiliary at Remsen, being a past president. She also was a Red Cross worker.
Survivors include two sons, Elmer of Remsen, superintendent of the municipal utilities, and Elwyn, Tarpon Springs, Florida. There are 3 grand children and two great grand children. – Le Mars Globe Post, Sept 27, 1954, page 9.
