DEATHS. John Juhl, a pioneer resident of Fredonia township, died at his home Monday evening following an operation, his death being due to a complication of internal troubles. Mr. Juhl was 67 years old. He is survived by one son, three daughters, one brother and five sisters. The funeral took place today, Thursday, with burial in the Remsen cemetery.

Mr. Juhl was in excellent health until four months ago when he began to fail, and three weeks ago he submitted to an operation at Le Mars. Death came at 9:45 o’clock Monday evening, February 16.

John Juhl was born in Denmark on October 2, 1857, and came to the United States at the age of 15 years, settling in Clinton, Ia. He came to Plymouth county in 1876, settling in Fredonia township, where he has lived ever since. He was united in marriage in Fredonia on July 19, 1884, to Maren C. Bredall, who preceded him in death several years ago.

The death of Mr. Juhl caused a great deal of sorrow in the immediate family and many regrets were expressed by his many friends. He was well known in the township where he was one of the prominent citizens, and also had many friends in Le Mars, Oyens and Remsen. Mr. Juhl was a splendid type of citizen and was held in the highest esteem by his many acquaintances.

Surviving him are the following children: Mrs. Sam Lund, Andrew B. Juhl, Mrs. Louis Larson and Miss Bessie Juhl, all living in the vicinity of Remsen and Le Mars. The following brothers and sisters also mourn his death: Mrs. J. Saathoff, Miller, Neb.; Mrs. C. J. Nootz, Lincoln, Neb.; Joe Juhl, Remsen; Mrs. Barney Kramer and Mrs. M. P. Bogh, LE Mars; Mrs. H. P. Madsen, Sibley, Ia.

The funeral was held with services in the Danish Lutheran church in Fredonia township and burial in the Remsen cemetery. – Le Mars Globe-Post, Feb 23, 1925, page 1.
