Christmas Eve brought sorrow to the Frank Harvey household southeast of Remsen when Mr. Harvey, 57, passed away in the Lutheran hospital, Sioux City, following a brief illness. Surviving him are the widow, Minnie; five children, his step-mother, three brothers and one sister. Christmas Eve brought sorrow to the Frank Harvey household southeast of Remsen when Mr. Harvey, 57, passed away in the Lutheran hospital, Sioux City, following a brief sickness. Surviving him are the widow, Minnie; five children, his step-mother, three brothers and one sister. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon.
Born February 18, 1890, on a farm near Pierson, he was the son of Dennis and Mary Harvey. As a young lad he moved with the family to a farm near Wakonda, S.D. After a few years in that locality the family returned and settled 11 miles southeast of Remsen, where Frank later took charge and farmed successfully.
February 18, 1909, he was united in marriage to Nellie Dwyer and to this union three children were born. His wife and an infant son preceded him in death, in 1925. On February 3, 1927, Mr. Harvey married Minnie Bock [Kahl?]. To this union one son was born.
Besides the sorrowing widow he is survived by the five children: Mrs. Ray (Avada) Mills, Coggon, Iowa; Floyd, Dean, and Harold, at home, and Mrs. Merlin (Evelyn) Bierman, Pierson. Surviving also is his step-mother, Mrs. Mary Harvey, Mapleton; three brothers and a sister – Ray, Areata, Calif.; Floyd, Quimby, Iowa; Royal, Galva, Iowa, and Mrs. Walter (Bernetta) Brooks, Mapleton.
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon in the Moeller funeral home followed by services in St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran church and conducted by the Rev. Paul Wuebben. Interment was in the Remsen cemetery. – Le Mars Globe Post, Jan. 2, 1947, page 1.
