RITES HELD LAST WEEK FOR FORMER AKRON RESIDENT

Mrs. 0. B. Akers Died At Watertown, S. D. Sunday, March 17

Brief mention was made in these columns last week of the tenth of Mrs. 0. B. Akers at a hospital in Watertown, S. D. on Sunday, March 17, after a brief illness.

Mrs. Akers was born March 16, 1901, at Wauzeka, Wise., the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Hillman. She lived in the home of Rev. and Mrs. C. F. Hillman in Iowa, attended Iowa public schools and taught in Iowa after being graduated from Northern Iowa University, at Cedar Falls. On March 27, 1927, she married 0. B. Akers at Mt. Carroll, Ill., and resided in Akron for a number of years before moving to Grover, S. D., in 1943. She moved to Watertown in 1967. She was a member of Vesper Chapter, No. 61, Order of Eastern Star, at Akron.

Survivors include one son, Orlyn B. Akers, of Torrance, Calif., two step-daughters, Mrs. Donald J. Ross, of Akron, and Mrs. Lyle Ruben, of Rapid City, S. D. and three sisters.

Her husband, one step-son and one step-daughter preceded her in death.

Funeral services were held at Watertown, S. D., Tuesday morning of last week and in Akron that afternoon at Wesley Methodist Church with Rev. Edward Maus officiating. Vocal soloist was Mrs. Hugh Swift, with Mrs. Kervyn Heeren accompanist. Casket hearers were Lloyd Clark, Earl Gale, Arvel Lake, J. F. McVay, Win. Lorensen and Claude Anderson. Interment was in Riverside Cemetery here.
