RITES ARE HELD LAST FRIDAY FOR AKRON MERCHANT

Heart Attack Is Fatal To George E. Thorberg On Monday, Nov. 12

George E. Thorberg passed away his home in this city Monday evening, November 12, 1951, following a heart attack, at the age of 61 years, 1 month and 21 days.

George Erland Thorberg, son of the late Andrew and Ida K. (Johnson) Thorberg, was born in Mandan, North Dakota, on September 15, 1890. He received his education in the Mandan schools, and later graduated from the Minneapolis School of Art.

He was employed for a time in Minneapolis by the Wyman Partridge Co. Later he returned to Mandan to work with his father in the Cummins, Thorberg and Theis Department Store. He later traveled in South Dakota and Iowa for various firms.

He was united in marriage with Marion Rhodes, of Akron, on September 30, 1943. During his residence in Akron he gained a great many friends by his genial way and pleasant personality. His life was characterized by a Christian spirit. He was a member of the Akron Methodist church.

Left to mourn his passing, in addition to his widow, are two sisters, Mrs. John Kleinschmidt and Mrs. Hugo Deibert, of Mandan, N. D.; four brothers, Harry S., of Auburn, Wash.; Eric A., of St. Louis, Mo.; Clifford A., of Cheyenne Agency, S. D., and Robert V., of Fargo, N. D.; and also several nieces and nephews and other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services were held last Friday afternoon in the Methodist church, conducted by the pastor, Rev. H. Myron Braun. Music was by a male quartet comprised of Karl Silkebakken, Melvin Lias, J. R. Shoulberg and Harry Nelson, who sang. "Oh, Love that Will Not Let Me Go;" accompanied by Mrs. Harry Nelson, and J. R. .Shoulberg sang as a solo, "The Lord's Prayer” with accompaniment by: Rev. H. Myron Braun.

Acting as pallbearers were: Rollo Baker, Lloyd Huebsch, Lloyd Clark, Donald Ross, Clifford Kennedy and Walter Dirks. Interment,was in Riverside cemetery.

Coming from a distance were: Mrs. John Kleinschmidt, Mrs. Hugo Delbert, of Mandan, N. D.; Mr. and Mrs. Eric A. Thorberg and son Rickey, of St. Louis, Mo.; Carrie Pilkington, of Sioux Falls; Mr. and Mrs. L. A. Martin, of Sioux City; Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd C. Huebsch, of Le Mars; Mr. and Mrs. Elton Shedd, of Elk Point; Mrs. J. G. Kyl and Mrs. Festa Theil of Wayne, Nebr.; Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Kirk, of Racine, Wis..
