Mrs. Lowell (Ruth) Taylor

Mrs. Lowell (Ruth H.) Taylor, 87, Akron, died Friday (May 29, 1987) at the Akron City Convalescent Care Center following a long illness.

Services were held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, June 1 at the Schroeder funeral home in Akron. Rev. Neil Rippey officiated. Burial was in the Plymouth Presbyterian church cemetery, rural Akron.

Pallbearers were Chris Nystrup, Don Mortensen, Steve Heeren, Larry Lorensen, Les Lorensen and Lowell Dempster. Alice Managbanag, soloist, sang "Precious Lord Take My Hand", accompanied by pianist Rhonda Rippey.

Mrs. Taylor, the former Ruth Smith was born January 19, 1900 at Correctionville, Iowa, to Allen and Indiana Edwards Smith. She married Lowell Taylor February 26, 1921 in Le Mars, Iowa. They farmed an 80-acre farm southeast of Akron from 1921 to 1946, when they moved to Sioux City, Iowa where Lowell worked as a stationary engineer at St. Joseph hospital and later at Lutheran hospital. They lived at Coon Rapids for two years where they were caretakers of their church camp grounds; lived at Oscaloosa for 12 years, before moving to the Akron nursing home in 1978. Mr. Taylor died March 5, 1986.

Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Wesley (Peggy) Wilson of Cedar Rapids; two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lowell; a son, Veldon; a daughter, Patty; a sister, Nellie; and three brothers, Ernie, John and Oscar.
