Faithful Worker Dies After Illness Contracted While at His Duties

PNEUMONIA ENDS LIFE

Fred Heien Was Popular Figure in Le Mars and Craig

Double pneumoniia, contracted following an illness caused by a cold and, chill while engaged in his duties as road patrolman, proved fatal to Fred Heien, of Craig, who died Friday night at his horme at the age of fifty years.

Mr. Helen lived In Le Mars and vicinity for many years before moving to Craitg to make his home. Friedrich Conraid Heien was born at Mount Cllve, Illinois, August 17, 1878, where he received his schooling and grew to young manhood. When nineteen years of age he came to Plymouth county and in the years following worked at various occupations.

He was united in marriage June 28, 1905, with Miss Famnie Ferguson, of this city, the ceremony taking place in Le Mars. Their married life was passed in Le Mars and vicinity.

Of late years Mr. Heien was patrolman on the state highway system and charge of Roads C and T. He was effieient in his duties and well liked. He was widely known in the county, and enjoyed the acquaintanice and friendship of a large number. He is survived by his wife, a daughter, Mrs. Max Buhman, of Ponca, Neb., and a son, John, residing at the parental home.

The funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Lutheran church in Craig and were largely attended by old friends amd neighbers. The remains were brought to Le Mars for interment in the city cemetery where relatives lie buried.
