HANS MARTFELD, 80, FUNERAL RITES PLANNED FRIDAY AFTERNOON

Funeral Services Hans A. Martfeld, 80, of 315 Third Ave. SE, will be Friday at 2 p.m. at St. John American Lutheran church, Le Mars. Burial will be in Merrill Hillside cemetery under direction of the Mauer funeral home in Le Mars. Rev. L. L. Belk will officiate at last riles.

Mr. Martfeld died at his home Monday after an illness of a week. He was a retired farmer and labarer. He was born Aug. 4, 1886, at Oldenburg, Germany, and came to the United Stales in 1897 and lived in Plymouth county as a child, retiring to Le Mars in 1934.

His marriage to Tailinae Hermine Redelfs took place in LeMars. March 9, 1909. His parents were the late Katrina (Siebels) and M. Martleld.

Survivors are his wife of LeMars: live daughters. Mrs. Alma Mahlke and Mrs. Wilbur (Esther) Ahlrich, both of LeMars, Mrs. John (Dorothy) Meier of Bakersfield, Calif., Mrs. Robert (Alice) Gee of Riverside, Calif., and Mrs. Emmett (Blanche) Baack of Redlands, Calif.; two sons, George of Vienna, Va., and Elmer of Bakersfield, Calif.; 21 grandchildren; 20 great–grandchildren; a brother, Fred Martfeld of LeMars, and two sisters, Mrs. Freda Johnson and Mrs. Meta Wilken, both of Le Mars.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two daughters; a brother, Richard, two sisters, Mrs. Onno Onken and Mrs. Rick Weber and one grandchild.
