Christine Morehead-Ryan
Christine Morehead-Ryan, 96, of Akron, died Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2005, at the Akron Care Center in Akron.
Christine Clara Morehead-Ryan was born April 24, 1909, on a farm near Akron, the daughter of Barth and Clara (Kallsen) Miller. She was baptized and confirmed into the Christian faith. She attended country school in the Akron area. She was united in marriage to Clair Morehead. Together, they were the parents of three children, Norman, Virgil, and Janice. The couple farmed in the Akron area. Clair died in 1956. Later, she was united in marriage to Alfred Ty Ryan. Ty died July 17, 1987. For the past few years, she had been living at the Ridgewood Apartments, and most recently, a resident of the Akron Care Center.
She was a longtime member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Akron where she active in the W.E.L.C.A. She enjoyed crocheting and playing cards. But most of all, she enjoyed the times with her friends and family. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Survivors include her two children, Virgil Morehead and his wife, Shirley of Sioux City, and Janice Morehead of Akron; a daughter-in-law, Marilyn Morehead of Merrill; two step-daughters, Angela Smith and her husband, Duane of Le Mesa, Calif., and Stephanie Karosvec and her husband, Felix of Verdis, Calif.; a step-son-in-law, Jim Manning of Burbank, S.D.; a sister, Mildred Johnson of Akron; six grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; numerous step-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her two husbands, Clair and Ty; one brother: Leonard Miller; two sisters, Emma Johnson and Alma Milbrodt; a step-daughter, Jacquline Manning; twin great-granddaughters in infancy, Sarah and Sally Bramstedt; a great-grandson, Alex Morehead; and a son, Norman in January 2005.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, E.L.C.A. in Akron, with the Rev. Dawn Quame and the Rev. Dennis Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the Riverside Cemetery in Akron. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. Friday with the family present after 6 p.m., and prayer service at 7 p.m., all at the Carlsen Funeral Home - Schroeder Chapel in Akron.
