Old Pioneer Passed Away January 23

Mrs. Betty Smith, resident of LeMars, died at Zimmerman Home on Thursday, January 23, following a lingering illness.
Betty Heeren was born in Grant township on December 22, 1888, and was married on February 23, 1916, at LeMars to Chas. Smith.
Deceased is survived by her husband and two daughters, Mrs. Adele Bondesen of Fowler, Colorado, and Mrs. Betty Nylund of Akron.
Funeral; services were held Monday afternoon at 2 o’clock at Plymouth Presbyterian church with Rev. Theo. Seibert officiating with burial in Plymouth cemetery.

MRS. BETTY SMITH CALLED BY DEATH LAST FRIDAY

Rites Held Monday For Lifelong Resident Of This Vicinity

Mrs Betty M. Smith, a resident of this vicinity all her life, passed away on Friday, January 24, 1947. after an extended illness, in the Zimmerman- Home at Le Mars, at the age of 58 years, 1 month and 2 days.

Betty M. Heeren was born in Grant township, Plymouth county, Iowa on December 22, 1888. On February 23, me, she was united in marriage with Charles Smith, who, with two daughters, Mrs. Adele Bondesen, at Fowler Colo., and Mrs. Betty Nylund of Akron, Iowa, survive this beloved wife and mother. She also leaves three sisters, Mrs. Andrew Andersen and Mrs. Oscar Baldwin, both of Akron, and Mrs. LeRoy Baldwin, of Merrill, and two brothers, Ed. Heeren, of Akron, and Fred Heeren, of Le Mars. To the relatives goes the sympathy of the community In their bereavement.

Mrs. Smith united with the Plymouth Presbyterian church on May 25, 1905 and remained a faithful attendant until ill health and long suffering prevented.

Funeral services were held at Plymouth Presbyterian Church Monday afternoon, January 27, at 2:00 o’clock, Rev. F. Anderson assisting. Interment was in Plymouth Church Cemetery.

Acting as pallbearers were six nephews of deceased; Calvin Andersen, Wesley Heeren, Elmer Heeren, Marlys Goodrich, Marvin Baldwin, and Alvin Heeren.
