Edward Stinton, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Stinton, was born June 19, 1868, at Lyons, Iowa. He came to Plymouth county In the vicinity of Adaville at the age of five. He married Mary L. Morehead Dec. 25, 1891. After 44 years on the same farm, he with, his family moved to Akron in 1917. Mr. Stinton was baptized In the Adaville United Brethren church where he was a devoted member and faithful worker for many years. After moving to Akron he joined the Methodist Church, where he still continued active church work. Edward was a kind friend to all and devoted to his family. He will be greatly missed in many ways.
His health had been failing the past few months and he was taken to the University hospital in Iowa City for treatments. His daughters, Mrs. Kerch and Mrs. Palm, were with him while he was In the hospital. He later was taken to the home of his daughter, Mrs. J. M. Karch in Sioux City, where everything was done to make his last days peaceful, Edward Stinton died Nov. 10, 1949, at the ago of 81 years, 4 months and 27 days.
Mr. Stinton was preceded in death by his wife, who died in 1932.
Left to mourn his departure are two daughters, Neva Karch, Sioux City, Blanche Palm, Omaha, Neb., and one son, Lester S., of Sioux City. Seven grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday at 2:30 in the Methodist church. The quartet Messrs. Silkenbakken, Behmer, Nelson and Shoulberg sang a couple of songs. One which was a favorite of Mr. Stinton's, "Going Down The Valley One By One." Rev, Harvey Nelson of the Whitfield Methodist church in Sioux City conducted the services.
Pallbearers were grandsons of Mr. Stinton, Robert and Alden Pollock, Walter Dirks, Alfred Betcher, Richard Goos and Robert Youhke. Interment was in the Riverside Cemetery where Masonic rites were conducted at the graveside.
