James Thoms, 78, a native of Le Mars, died Monday noon (April 1, 1974) in a Texas hospital after a short illness. Mr. Thoms had resided at Niverville, Manitoba, Canada during the summer and at Pharr, Tex., during the winter months.

Funeral services are tentatively set for Friday at the Mauer funeral chapel. The body is expected to arrive about midnight Tuesday.

James Thoms was the son of the late James and Leah Thoms, longtime Le Mars residents. He was born Aug. 12, 1895, at rural Le Mars.

Survivors include five brothers; Homer of Merrill, Wallace of Fargo, N. D., and Maynard, Elmer and Harry, all of Le Mars.

He was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers.
