Obituary. Herbert A. Harnack.
Herbert A. Harnack, 74,longtime Remsen business man, died Wednesday at Floyd Valley hospital after having been in failing health for some time.
He was born Feb. 23, 1895, near Remsen. Mr. Harnack was a retired farmer and for 55 years operated a custom corn shelling machine in the area. He had lived in Remsen for the last ten years and prior to that time on a farm near there. His parents were the late Mr. and Mrs. Herman Harnack.
His marriage to Ann Kohlmeier was Jan. 26, 1921, in Le Mars.
Funeral services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Christ Lutheran church with Rev. Alvin [Alfred] Christiansen officiating. Burial will be in Remsen community cemetery under direction of the Fisch funeral home.
Survivors are his wife, Ann, Remsen; two sons, Milo and Clayton both of Remsen; nine grandchildren; a great grandchild; a brother, Clarence, Remsen; four sisters, Hazel Harnack, Marcus; Mrs. Delbert Drefke, Marcus; Mrs. Walter Dittman, Spencer and Mrs. Oina Jacobsen, Lake Park. – Le Mars Daily Sentinel, Sept 11, 1969, page 5.
