Mrs. George Hagar.
Mrs. George D. Hagar, Sr., of Le Mars, Iowa and formerly of Remsen, Iowa and prior to that Alton, Iowa where she and Mr. Hagar met and were married August 27, 1908, and lived for fifteen years, departed this life at 1:15 p.m. November 26th, at the Sacred Heart Hospital at Le Mars, Iowa, where she has spent a great fraction of her time during the past two years.
Mrs. Hagar, born Marietta N. Van Steenwyk, January 9th, 1889, daughter of Abraham and Etta Van Steenwyk, of Sioux County, Iowa, was born on a farm two and one half miles west of Orange City, where she lived until her Marriage to Mr. Hagar. Unto this union five children were born, one of which, the second oldest, Lawrence D. passed away four years ago in a train, car accident. All of the children are married and have families. Mrs. L.R. Luken, the oldest and Howard H. Hagar live in Seattle, Washington, and Mrs. Roman L. Groff, Remsen, Iowa and George D. Hagar, Jr., of Le Mars, at whose home the Senior Mr. and Mrs. Hagar have been making their home while building a new one on South Central Avenue, but the other new home was ready and prepared.
Funeral services will be Wednesday afternoon at Remsen, St. Paul’s Evangelical church. The Fisch funeral home is in charge. – Nov. 28, 1949, page 3.
