Death Claims Akron Pioneer

Eugene Clark Succumbs Sudden Heart Attack

Funeral services were held in the First Baptist Church in Akron for Eugene W. Clark, long time resident of this county. Rev. Leslie Williams officiated. Interment was made in Riverside Cemetery. He died unexpectedly after two days illness following a heart attack.

Eugene Wesley Clark was born at Portage, Wisconsin, July 9, 1871. He lived in Wisconsin until 1885, when as a boy of fourteen toe came to Akron and made his home with his uncle. Dr. R. D. Clark, a pioneer Akron physician. Later he engaged in farming in Akron vicinity, both in Plymouth County and in Union county, S. D., for a number of years.

In 1896 he was united in marriage with Miss Nell Davis, of Union County, who passed away March 23, 1909. About seven years later he was married,, to Laura M. Johnson, of Akron, who preceded him In death July 18, 1922.

He leaves to mourn his departure three daughters, Mrs. A. C. Smith; of Albert Lea, Minn.; Mrs.. B . L. Crow of Mitchell, S. D.; and Mrs. Russell Kirkpatrick, of Waterloo, Iowa; three sons, Herbert, of Sioux City with and Harold and Melvin with of Akron is an, Iowa. He is also survived by one sister, Mrs. Walter Kingsley, of Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin, and four brothers, Harry of Sioux City; Fred, of Canova, S. S.; William, of Rapid City, S.D., and Henry, of Milwaukee, Wis..
