Harry Oetken
Harry R. Oetken, 68, Le Mars, lifelong Plymouth county resident, died Thursday (Aug. 30,1979) at St. Joseph's Hospital, Sioux City, after a brief illness.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at St. John's Lutheran church, Preston Township, rural Akron. Rev. James Sandvik will officiate and burial will be in Le Mars Memorial Cemetery under direction of the Luken-Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Saturday. There will be a family prayer service at 7 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
He was born Feb. 2, 1911, in Grant Township to Rank and Minnie Renken Oetken. Mr. Oetken fanned his entire life in Plymouth County. His marriage to Elsie Grosenheider took place Dec. 10, 1932, at Preston Township Lutheran church. She died Feb. 21,1974. . He married Esther Jensen, May 28, 1976, at St. Paul's Lutheran Johnson Township church, Merrill.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son and sister.
Survivors are his wife Esther; a son, Loren, rural Akron; a daughter, Mrs. Kenneth (Karla) Less, Merrill; a stepson, Randall Jensen, Merrill; a step-daughter, Mrs. Kenneth (Sharon) Junck, Hinton; five grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; three brothers, George and Elmer, both of Merrill, and Earl of Akron, and three sisters, Mrs. Arvil (Mildred) Rozell, Le Mars, Mrs. Irene Pralle, Rock Rapids, and Mrs. James (Darlene) Lange, Paulina.
