Mrs. Celia Haack, For Sixty Years Remsen Resident Died March 10.
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon, March 13, in St. Paul’s Lutheran church, Remsen, for Mrs. Celia Haack, who died Thursday, March 10, in a Cedar Rapids hospital. The Rev. Paul Wuebben officiated and burial was in the Remsen cemetery. Mrs. Haack had been ill five weeks and was 85 years of age at the time of her death.
Mrs. Haack was born in Cedar county, Wilton Junction, Iowa, on March 26, 1863. In 1883 she was married to George Haack and they made their home on a farm in Benton county, In 1887 they came to Plymouth county. Mr. Haack died in 1901. For the past six years she had made her home with her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Otto Haack of Keystone, Iowa.
Survivors include three sons, John and August of Remsen, and Otto of Keystone; two sisters, Mrs. Ella Haack of Remsen and Mrs. Alvin Warren of Rock Rapids; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and two daughters, Mrs. Richard (Margaret) Meyers and Etta Haack. – Le Mars Semi-Weekly Sentinel, March 22, 1949, page 1.
