Mrs. Wm. H. Raver passed from this life at her home in Union County, S. D., about a mile and a half north of this city, Sunday afternoon, May 12, 1912. Since last September she bad been a great sufferer from an internal cancer. On January she submitted to an operation and for a time was considerably better, but for the past three weeks had declined. While her death was not unexpected, the final summons came with a suddenness that was a grievous shock not only to the immediate family, but to a host of friends also. She suffered three hemorrhages and the end came before medical aid could reach her.
Elizabeth Wilson was born in Scotland on January 5th, 1865, and died at the age of 47 years, 4 months and 7 days. When sixteen years of age she came to America and lived for a time at Andover, Mass, and came to Westfield township, Plymouth County, la., in 1893, where she resided with Mrs. Van Vleck until her marriage to W, H. Raver, which took place in Akron, July 8, 1894. To this union two daughters, Wilma and Agnes, were born.
Besides her husband and daughters, she leaves to mourn her departure three sisters in Scotland and a brother in Massachusetts. A woman of high ideals and noble character, a willing helper in all things good and uplifting, she was admired and beloved by all within the circle of her acquaintance, who mingle their sorrow with that of those near and dear to her.
The funeral was conducted Tuesday afternoon in the Akron M. E. church by Rev. R. L. Stuart, following a brief service at the home. A large delegation from the local W. R. C. met the funeral cortege at the bridge, escorted the remains of their lamented fellow-member to the church and attended the service in a body. There were many beautiful floral offerings. Interment was made in Riverside Cemetery.
