Funeral Held Wednesday for Kingsley Man.
Henry George Grothaus, a well known Plymouth county farmer died late Saturday afternoon, Jan. 14, at the Lutheran hospital in Sioux City, following a sickness of several months. Mr. Grothaus had been in poor health for some time, and physicians were unable to properly treat his ailment, and within the past week became gradually weaker.
Henry George Grothaus, son of Angeline Grothaus, was born July 18, 1898, and died Jan. 14, 1939, aged 40, 5 months and 16 days.
He grew to manhood in the Kingsley vicinity, and was loved and respected by those who knew him. He was united in marriage Alma Seggerman and to this union two sons were born: Darrel, age 13, and Wayne, age 8.
Besides his companion and two sons he leaves his mother, five brothers and two sisters: Mrs. Wm. Fromme, Remsen; William of Kingsley; Mrs. Minnie Shoemaker, Eldora, Iowa; John S., Kingsley; Carl F., Bemis S.D.; Clarence E., Kingsley, and Harvey A., of Holstein, other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral service was held Wednesday of last week at the Kingsley Congregational church with Rev. L.T. Proctor, the pastor, in charge of the services. The remains were taken to Remsen and interred in the cemetery there. – Le Mars Globe-Post, Jan. 23, 1939
