F.C. ELSNER TAKEN BY DEATH. Follows Wife to Grave in Month’s Time.
F. C. Elsner, age 68 years, passed away at the Community hospital on Tuesday, death being caused by cancer of the stomach. Mr. Elsner was brought to the hospital from Remsen two weeks ago. He made his home with his sister, Mrs. William Long of Remsen.
Deceased was born in Germany and came to this country when he was 6 years old. He lived for 30 years in Remsen, where he conducted a saloon and after the 18th amendment was passed he went to work for a cigar company in Sioux City as a traveling salesman. During his later years he worked at the painters trade and when not employed lived with his sister.
Mr. Elsner passed away within a day of being a month after his wife died, she leaving this world Jan. 16.
The funeral was held this afternoon at 2 o’clock from Wiltgen’s funeral parlors and burial made in the city cemetery.
He leaves a brother, Charles Elsner of Frankfurt, Ill. and his sister at Remsen, to mourn his loss. – Le Mars Globe Post, Feb. 17, 1927, page 1.
