MRS. HARRY NELSON
Mrs. Harry Nelson, ,76, Akron, Iowa, died Dec. 20 at an Akron pursing home.
The funeral was at 10:30 a.m. Dec. 22 in Wesley United Methodist Church at Akron. The Rev. Ralph Burdette officiated and burial was in the Riverside Cemetery at Akron under the direction of the Schroeder Funeral Home.
Casket bearers were John Dirks, Virgil Willer, Curtis Lewison, Jr., Keith Knapp, Fred Claesson, Jr. and Ivyl Knapp.
Mrs. Nelson, the former Lois Knapp, was born Nov. 30, 1897, in Union County. She was married Dec. 22,1925, at Onawa. They farmed until 1929 and thereafter she and her husband operated the Nelson Hatchery in Akron until retiring in 1971. Mrs. Nelson was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, the PEG, the American Legion Auxiliary and served for several years on the board of the directors of the Akron Hospital.
Survivors include the widower; a son, David of Akron; a foster son, Allen Vanderhelm of Akron, and five grandchildren.
