Edward V. McCorkell was born on December 26, 1925, at Akron, Iowa, and passed away, on January 1, 1970, at the Veterans Hospital, at Sioux Falls, S.D., having reached the age of 44 years and 6 days.

He received his Education in the Akron schools and graduated from Akron High School after serving two years in the armed forces of his country. His overseas service was with the 6th Armored Division, under the command of General Patton. He was employed as an auto body repairman in Le Mars, and at Dirks Motor Co. in Akron, and as a welder at the Wilson Trailer Factory in Sioux City, until ill health forced him to give up his work. He was married to Miss Joan Eslick at Elk Point, S.D. on February 17, 1950.

He is survived by his wife, three sons, Douglas, David, and Robert, all at home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clair McCorkell, of Akron, two sisters, Mrs. Phyllis Wilson, of Azusa, California, and Mrs. Gladys Clarey, of Covina, California, a grandfather, J..L. McCorkell, and a grandmother, Mrs. Nancy Pike, of Akron.

Funeral services were conducted at the First Baptist Church by Rev. Michael Strom with vocal music by Mrs. Virginia Swift, with Stan Swanson at the organ.

Casket bearers were Gerd Ludwigs, Lloyd Myer, Wm. Meinen, Marlin Osterbuhr, R.D. Clark and Floyd Davis.

Interment was in Riverside Cemetery with Military services by members of Hoschler Post. No. 186, American Legion. Ed was preceded in death by 3 infant sons.
