GRANVILLE, Iowa – Murl R. Hansen, 66, of Granville died Saturday, Nov. 7, 1992, at a Sioux City hospital after a long illness.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Remsen with the Rev. Craig Miller officiating. Burial will be in the Remsen City Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with the family present 7-9 p.m., at the church. Moeller Funeral Home of Remsen is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Hansen was born July 30, 1926, in Le Mars, the son of Charlie and Lillian (HInspeter) Hansen. He graduated from Le Mars High School in 1943. He married Myrtle “Myrt” Bottjen Brant Dec 1, 1962, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Remsen. He was a lifelong Sioux County farmer, having farmed with his father for many years after returning from the military service. He specialized in custom trucking and combining.
Mr. Hansen was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. He served in the Korean Conflict from 1951 to 1953 in Japan and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion.
Survivors include his wife, two sons, John and his wife, Rahkel of Granville and Ken of Minneapolis; two stepsons, Robert Brant and his wife, Lori of Phelan, Calif., and Bill Brant; five grandchildren, Jessica and Andrew Hansen, and Bill, Jeremy and Jennifer Brant; a brother, Ray and his wife, Peg of Marcus; and a sister, Merna and Her husband, Howard Smith of Minneapolis. – family news clipping (unsourced)
