The funeral of Lynn Engelbrecht, the fourteen year old son of Wm. Engelbrecht who died in the Sacred Heart hospital at Le Mars, was held on Monday afternoon in St. Paul’s Evangelical church. Besides his father Lynn is survived by a brother, Lyle, and two sisters, Mrs. Louis Klosterman of Sioux City and Helen at home. The family now resides near Le Mars, but formerly lived on a farm near Remsen. – Le Mars Semi-Weekly Sentinel, Aug. 26, 1938, page 5.

Funeral Services Held Monday for Lynn Engelbrecht. Funeral services were held in St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran church at Remsen Monday afternoon for Lynn Engelbrecht, 14, son of Wm. Engelbrecht, residing west of Oyens, who passed away at the Sacred Heart hospital following a sickness of but three days. His death followed two operations for an intestinal obstruction. Surviving the lad are, besides the father, one brother and two sisters.
Born on a farm six miles northeast of Remsen in Sioux county on February 28, 1924, Lynn received his first education in the nearby country school and then the family moved to a farm two miles west of Remsen where they resided for five years, changing locations again a year ago last spring when they moved to a farm one mile west of Oyens.
Lynn’s mother lost her life in an automobile accident in November of 1934. Besides the father, the lad is survived by his brother, Lyle, 19 years old, of Le Mars, a sister Hazel now Mrs. Louis Klostermann, of Sioux City, and a sister, Helen, 16, living at home. The latter was his constant companion in recent years after the older brother and sister left home as did the mother who was taken away in a tragic manner but four years ago. – Le Mars Globe Post, Aug 29. 1938, page 6.
