John A. Johnson, 87, a former Remsen resident died Monday morning August 3 at his home in Paullina, Ia., after a long illness.
Mr. Johnson was born November 14, 1871, at Kruker, Ill., and moved to a farm near Remsen in 1888. He married Anna Juetting at Secor, Ill., and the couple moved to Paullina in 1935 where they had been engaged in truck gardening.
Survivors include the widow; five sons, George of Wabasso, Minnesota, Herman of Council Bluffs, Honnus of Omaha, Harm of Marcus, Ia. And Theodore of Paullina; three daughters, Mrs. Elsie Webster and Mrs. Catherine Dunn, both of Omaha, and Mrs. William Wilcox of Marcus, four brothers, Harm Johnson of Madison, South Dakota, George Johnson of Salem, Ore., and Jeorgen Johnson and Enoch Johnson both of Remsen; and a sister, Mrs. Anna Held of Torrance, Cal.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. Paul’s Evangelical church in Remsen Rev. Paul Wuebben officiated and burial was in the Community cemetery. – Le Mars Globe-Post, Aug. 6, 1959, page 3.
