Mrs. Anna Harnack, Remsen, Died Friday In Her 90th Year.
Mrs. Anna Harnack of Remsen, died at her home in Remsen on Friday, April 29, at the age of 89 years. She had suffered a fractured hip as a result of a fall in her home six weeks ago.
Anna Mohning was born April 18, 1860, at Garnavillo, Iowa, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Mohning. She came to Plymouth county 60 years ago and lived around and in Remsen until her death. She was married November 8, 1888, to L.H. Harnack, at the Henry Mohning farm in Marion township.
Survivors include two sons, Herman Harnack and Allison A. Harnack and one daughter, Mrs. George (Alma) Wiebke, all of Remsen; one sister, Mrs. Charles Hedemann of Garnavillo; three grandchildren and one great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband and one son, Ludwig, and another son who died as an infant; also, three brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services were conducted by Marvin Holien, Sunday afternoon, May 1, at 3 o’clock, at the Fisch Funeral Home. Interment was in Remsen cemetery. Pallbearers were Adolph Witt, I.H. Schulte, Herbert Harnack, William Fromme, Louis H. Mohning and John Harnack. – Le Mars semi-Weekly Sentinel, May 3, 1949, page 1.
