DEATH OF OCTOGENERIAN. Resided in Meadow and Fredonia Townships.
The remains of Mads Thomsen were laid to rest in the Remsen cemetery on Tuesday, April 5, by the side of those of his wife who passed away about a year ago. Mr. Thomsen lived in Meadow township until his wife died when he went to live with his son at Gayville, S.D.
He died at the age of 79 years on Saturday, April 2. He worked many years in the mines in Pittsburg, Pa., before he came to Plymouth county and here in Fredonia township he settled among his native countrymen, who showed by their attendance of his funeral that they had learned to love and respect the old man. Rev. Stephens of the Methodist church at Seney conducted the funeral service. – Bell Enterprise - Le Mars Globe-Post, April 11, 1910, page 2.
