Obituary. Bonde Nielson.
Bonde Nielsen, 77, Oyens, died Sunday at Floyd Valley hospital after a short illness.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran church, Remsen, with Rev. Calvin H. Rossman officiating.
Burial will be in the Remsen city cemetery under the direction of Moeller funeral home, Remsen. Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday afternoon and evening.
He was born Aug. 18, 1892 in Janderup, Denmark. He came to this country at the age of 19 and settled near Oyens where he was first a farm laborer and later farmed for himself. He then became a truck driver.
He married Laurentina Kloster in Feb. of 1914. She died in 1918 in child birth so he moved to California and was a carpenter there until he retired to Oyens in 1952.
He was a member of the Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Oyens until it recently disbanded.
Survivors are two sons, Elmer of Paullina and Woodrow Petersen, who was adopted by Mr. and Mrs. Axel Petersen after the death of Woodrow’s mother, Mrs. Nielsen, a daughter, Mrs. James (Mildred) Petersen [Peterson], Remsen, three sisters, Mrs. J. A. (Maria) Kloster of Oyens, Mrs. Tom (Christian) Larson of Short Hill, N. J. and Anna of Janderup, Denmark; two half sisters and two half brothers in Denmark; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. – Le Mars Globe-Post, August 25, 1969, page 7.
