From the Sioux City Journal, Friday, November 14, 1941, Page 12A, Column 1:

DEATH CLAIMS OCTOGENARIAN
Marion S. Reeves, Sr., Resident Here for 42 Years

Marion S. Reeves, Sr., 80, a resident here for the last 42 years, died Thursday night at his home, 2319 Jackson street, after a short illness.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Westcott-Doughty-Chandler chapel. Rev. George W. Dunn, pastor of the First Methodist church, will officiate. Interment will be in Graceland Park cemetery.

Mr. Reeves was born April 1, 1862, in Kane county, Ill. When he was six years old he moved with his family to a homestead in Plymouth county which adjoined what is now Seney.

He learned telegraphy when a young man and for 20 years served as a station agent at vaious points for the Chicago, St. Paul, Minneapolis and Omaha railroad. In 1902 he retired from railroad work and went into the real estate and insurance business in Sioux City, which he continued to the time of his death.

Survivors include the widow, Annie M. Reeves, and one son, Marion S. Reeves, jr., both of Sioux City; four brothers, A. M. Reeves, of Sioux City; Alfred H. Reeves of Wichita, Kan.; Joseph M. Reeves of Edmonton, Canada, and William Reeves of Pipestone, Minn., and two grandchildren. Mr. Reeves was a member of the First Methodist church here.
(Note--Marion was 79 years old until the following April 1st.)
