Was Prominent Farmer in
Plymouth County

Death claimed Andrew Kloster, well known citizen and prominent farmer in this country for many years, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. John Held, 227 Fourth Street NW., on Tuesday morning. Mr. Kloster had been ill for the past five months and recently was brought from his farm home to Le Mars to be nearer medical attention. His death was ascribed to an internal malady. Mr. Kloster was a resident of Plymouth county since the early eighties.

Andrew Kloster was born in Wonsbeck, Denmark, August 20, 1857, and was the son of Jens A. Kloster and Laurantine Bergholt. He grew up and was educated in his native land. When a youth he served eighteen months in the Danish army and was a member of the king’s bodyguard. He emigrated in America in 1883 and lived in New York for three years. In 1886 he came to Le Mars and joined a number of his country men who settled in northeastern ? Plymouth county and engaged in farming which occupation he followed during his life. Of late years he lived on a farm east of the city limits.

Mr. Kloster was married August 22, 1894, to Marie Raven. He is survived by his wife and son, Jens Kloster, of Le Mars, and seven grandchildren, a step-daughter, Mrs. John Held, of Le Mars, two stepsons, A.H. Raven and J.A. Raven, of Sioux City. He also leaves a sister, Mrs. Lizzie Markelson, and a brother, Jens Kloster, living in Denmark, and three brothers living in America, Walter Kloster, of Newkirk, Okla., Thorvald P. Kloster and C.P. Kloster, of Fredonia township.

Mr. Kloster was a good citizen, a Christian gentleman and a staunch supporter of interests beneficial to the community. He was a charter member of the Danish Lutheran church in Fredonia, having helped in the erection of the building and the formation of the congregation. He was neighborly and friendly and enjoyed a multitude of friendships.

Funeral Thursday Afternoon

The funeral was held Thursday afternoon from the John Held home in Le Mars at 1 o’clock with services in St. John’s Lutheran church. Six nephews acted as pallbearers, Jack, Jens A., Nels, Nis, Harold and Nick Kloster.
