William Reeves

Funeral services for William J. Reeves, 85, who died Friday at Sacred Heart hospital after a three-week sickness were at 2 p.m. Monday at the Seney, Ia. Methodist church. Rev. Fritz Springis and Rev. Paul Hesler officiated. Burial was in the LeMars city cemetery under direction of the Mauer funeral home.

Mr. Reeves was born December 31, 1875 at Seney, and farmed for many years in Plymouth county. He married Sarah R. Weber December 19, 1900. Mrs. Reeves died in 1951.

Survivors include two sons, Clarence and George of LeMars; 3 daughters, Mrs. Edward Kurtz and Mrs. A. C. Strong, both of LeMars and Mrs. Glen Cummings of Cedar Rapids, Ia.; a brother, C. W. Reeves of Sioux City; two sisters, Mrs. Martha Cook of Seney and Mrs. Jessie Chambers of Watertown, S. D.; 12 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

WILLIAM REEVES WAS LIFELONG RESIDENT
AND RETIRED FARMER--FUNERAL TODAY

Funeral services for William J. Reeves, 85, lifelong Plymouth county resident who died Friday at Sacred Heart hospital, were at 2 p.m. Monday at the Seney Methodist church.

Rev. Fritz Springis, church pastor, and Rev. Paul Hesler officiated. Burial was in the LeMars city cemetery under the direction of Mauer's funeral home.

Mr. Reeves had been hospitalized one day after a three week illness. He was born Dec. 31, 1875, at Seney, the son of Arthur and Elizabeth Mercer Reeves. He had farmed for many years in Plymouth county until retiring.

His marriage to Sarah Rose Weber took place Dec. 19, 1900, at Seney. She died Aug. 11, 1951. Also preceding him in death were a brother and sister.

Surviving are two sons and three daughters, Clarence, George, Mrs. Edward (Pearl) Kurtz and Mrs. A. C. (Caroline) (sic-Carolyn) Strong, all of LeMars and Mrs. Glenn (Vera) Cummings of Cedar Rapids.

Also surviving are 12 grandchildren; one great-grandchild, a brother, C. W. Reeves of Sioux City, and two sisters, Mrs. Martha Cook of Seney and Mrs. Jessie Chambers of Watertown, S. D.
