DEATH CLAIMS GEORGE BURRILL
WELL KNOWN PLYMOUTH COUNTY RESIDENT
EXPIRES AFTER LINGERING ILLNESS

Death claimed George H. Burrill, aged 72, a resident of Plymouth county since 1883, at the home of his brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. John T. Alderson, 414 Second Avenue SW., this city, Wednesday morning, October 12, after an illness of nine months. Mr. Burrill was taken sick about Christmas time and suffered recurrent strokes. Several weeks ago he was brought from his farm home to the residence of his sister, Mrs. Alderson, who ministered to him in his last illness and soothed his declining days.

Mr. Burrill was a son of a pioneer family. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. George W. Burrill, migrated from Rochester, N. Y., to Iowa in early days.

George H. Burrill was born in Dubuque county, Iowa, April 14, 1860, where he grew to manhood, receiving his early education and helping in the work on the home farm.

With his parents he came to Plymouth county in 1883. They settled on a farm in Johnson township where they lived for many years before moving to LeMars to live.

George Burrill acquired land and farmed on his own account in Johnson and Liberty townships and later in Union township. He lived nearly all of his life in the county since attaining manhood with the exception of a couple years spent in Colorado.

He was united in marriage April 28, 1889, to Mary J. Tullis, a member of another pioneer family in the west part of the county. His wife died in 1911. He is survived by six daughters, Mrs. Pearl Grebner, Denver, Colo., Mrs. Eva Hanssen, Laddonia, Mo., Mrs. Florence Clark, Truman, Minn., Mrs. Fay (sic--Faye) Dempster, Union township, Plymouth county, Mrs. Clara Wilkinson, of Fort Morgan, Colo., Mrs. Lillian Boesch, Truman, Minn. There are eighteen grandchildren. He also leaves to mourn his death, one brother and four sisters, W. W. Burrill, of Akron, Mrs. Mary Urie, Pocatello, Idaho, Mrs. Sadie Brown, Woonsocket, S. D., Mrs. Agnes Hinde, Forestburg, S. D. and Mrs. J. T. Alderson, of LeMars. Three brothers and two sisters have preceded him in death.
Funeral This Afternoon

The funeral will be held from the Alderson home this afternoon at 2 o'clock and services will be held at 2:30 in the Methodist church at Merrill with Rev. Harold Smith, of Union, officiating. The interment will be made in the Merrill cemetery.

Mr. Burrill, through his long residence, was well known and widely acquainted in the county. He made many friends and was highly esteemed as a good citizen and neighbor and his death is regretted by a large circle of relatives and acquaintances.
