Vernon L. "Vern" Hesse, 58, Sioux City, died
Wednesday (Jan. 27, 1988) at a Sioux City hospital after a brief illness.

Funeral will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel with Rev. Frederick Lubs of Trinity Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetary. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Mr. Hesse was born May 3, 1929, at Sioux City. He was raised at Mapleton and returned to Sioux City in 1950. He married Betty J. Tippery June 19, 1959 at Sioux City. He operated Hesse
Excavating in Sioux City since 1950.

Mr. Hesse was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

Survivors are his wife; three sons, Herman
"Corky" Jenkins of Sioux City, Ted Hesse of Missoula, Mont., and Neal Jenkins of North Hollywood, Calif.;three daughters, Lina Schwedler
of Kansas City, Mo., Diane Palmer of Omaha, and Rose Hesse at home; his mother, Lucille Hesse of Sioux City; three brothers, Earl of Hinton, Carl of Sioux City, and Virgil of Dakota City; a sister, Pearl Fulton of Sioux City; and seven grandchildren.
