Death Claims Mrs. Heizer

Mrs. Jennie Heizer, 85 years of age, widow of the late E.P. Heizer, long time newspaper man and at one time postmaster at Sioux City, passed away Sunday morning at her farm home in Perry
Township.

Mrs. Heizer was born at Garnett, Kan., February 10, 1862, and on July 4, 1880, was married to Edward P. Heizer, who was then a country school teacher. They came to Iowa shortly thereafter and Mr. Heizer engaged in newspaper work at Burlington, Ft. Madison, and Bloomfield where he owned the Bloomfield Republican.

They came to Sioux City in 1883 and Mr. Heizer became associated with Geo. D. Perkins, founder of The Journal, as editorial writer and
advisor. He died November 9, 1933 after a long and distinguished career as a newspaper man.

After having lived in Sioux City many years,
Mr. and Mrs.Heizer and their family moved 37 years ago to their farm in Perry Township, 4 miles west of Hinton, where both Mr. and Mrs. Heizer spent their remaining years.

Mrs. Heizer was a member of the First Presbyterian Church for many years and was a life member of the Girls of '68.

Surviving are two daughters; Margaret (Mrs.
Stephen W. Brock) of Hinton, and Beatrice (Mrs.
George D. Perkins) of Hinton, and a granddaughter, Miss Shirley Perkins of Sioux City.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at 2 p.m.
at the Westcott Doughty-Chandler Funeral Home in
Sioux City. Rev. John Paul Vincent of the First
Presbyterian Church officiated. Burial was in Logan Park Cemetary.

Pallbearers were D.S. Twogood, George Ellison, Adolph K. Kovarna, William Ernst, Will Felton, Jr., and W. T. Perkins.
